About this product

Some customers want to build; some want to open a box and go shooting. For the second group, CZ's new DUTY 4.0 lands beside our ready-made pistols as a factory-assembled, factory-serialized 9mm with nothing left to finish. It is a striker-fired 9x19mm with a fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame that is modular, because the serial number lives on the internal chassis. The slide is milled for direct-mount red dots; CZ's photos show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield units fitted.

Choose C for a compact that holds 15+1, or 17+1 with the extended base plate, at 770 g and 135 mm tall. Choose F for a full-size that holds 17+1, 19+1 extended, at 780 g and 143 mm. Both have a 4-inch unthreaded barrel, 7.4-inch overall length, fixed sights and a refined SFDA trigger at roughly 5.6 lbs with a 4 mm reset. The MS versions add a manual thumb safety for shooters who want a lever. Suggested retail from CZ: $729.

Pick the C when the gun has to disappear under a cover garment. It gives up two rounds to the service-size model (15+1 against 17+1) and about 8 mm of grip height, and in return it is 5.3 in (135 mm) tall and 27.2 oz (770 g) light.

The MS model carries a frame-mounted manual safety on top of the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger-bar safety. Everything else, chassis, trigger, slide and optics cut, is the same as the version without the lever.

CZ built the DUTY around a registered chassis that the polymer polymer grip wraps around, the same idea that lets a owner change frame size without buying a new registered gun. The trigger is a refined SFDA striker unit, 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) pull, 0.16 in (4 mm) reset, 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) travel. The slide takes optics by direct mounting; CZ's product photos show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield units in place. Sights are fixed, the 102 mm barrel is not threaded.

Who is it for: daily carry, a bedside gun that also rides along, and new owners who want one pistol for everything. If you already shoot a P-10, the DUTY is the next step in the same family, with a new chassis and the optics done right.

Kits and parts go to your door; a complete pistol like this one goes to your FFL. At checkout, name the dealer who will receive it, and we ship the DUTY 4.0 to them. The dealer finishes the transfer and applies the rules of your state when you come in to collect it. If you have never used a dealer for a transfer before, any FFL that accepts inbound handguns can do it.

Frequently asked questions

Is there anything to assemble on the DUTY 4.0?
Nothing. It arrives as a complete, factory-serialized pistol, unlike the kits elsewhere on this site.
Which DUTY 4.0 should a first-time pistol buyer choose?
The F full-size gives the most grip and 17+1 rounds; the C compact trades 8 mm of height and two rounds for easier carry. Both run the same trigger and optics cut.
What does MS mean on the CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS?
Manual safety. It adds a thumb lever to the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety that every DUTY has.
Does the manual safety change the trigger?
No. CZ rates the trigger the same on both versions: 5.6 pounds with a 4 mm reset.
